Typed regions, drawn from a closed set

Each editable region carries a declared type rather than a description. A text slot, a media slot, a repeating group with a stated count, a section with a named role, or a shell element belonging to the site.

The set of available types is closed and defined. That constraint is the enforcement mechanism, because a blueprint claiming a type outside the set fails validation and never reaches the platform. Correctness stops depending on anybody noticing a mistake. Above that layer, composition remains open. Regions can be arranged in any order and any structure, which means the vocabulary bounds what a machine must understand without bounding what a designer can build.

What is declared, and what is deliberately not

A blueprint declares which parts of a design a human will plausibly want to change, and stays silent about the rest. Icons are not editable regions. Structural decisions are not editable regions. Navigation link lists are menus rather than free text, and site-wide facts come from a settings source rather than being typed per page. What remains editable is a headline, a body, an image, a call to action, a contact detail.

The restraint is deliberate, and it is the difference between a system people use correctly and one they fight.

Declared limits, enforced at render

A blueprint states what each region can hold, and the renderer holds content to it. A headline arriving nine words long stays inside the composition that was designed for it. Content cannot overflow a region, because the pattern declared its bounds and the renderer clamps to them. Most visual breakage on a mature site is content that outgrew the space somebody drew for it, and declaring limits removes that failure at the source rather than fixing it page by page.

Versioning, so upgrades are not gambles

Every page records the blueprint version it was built against. Regions are added, renamed or removed with a migration shipped alongside, never silently. Before a library upgrade activates, a compatibility report runs against every existing page. Nothing rots quietly, which matters because a system that cannot be upgraded safely stops being upgraded, and one nobody upgrades becomes the thing everybody works around.

Registries as the single source

Available regions, styles and pieces come from registries rather than from documentation, and everything that describes them is generated from the same source the system uses. The practical consequence is that descriptions cannot drift out of date. A capability that ships is described accurately the moment it ships, because the description and the capability come from one place. Separately maintained documentation always ages into fiction, though the arrangement here removes the possibility.

Where the blueprint stops

A blueprint is the machine contract. It describes types, limits, versions and structure. It says nothing about how a person composes a page from the pieces it declares, which is a separate concern covered in interactive prototypes under design. One is the schema. The other is the experience of working with it.
